Menopause Mastery - Elevate your well-being

What I’ve Learned This Week About Menopause and CBD 🌸

Did you know that around 13 million women in the UK are currently experiencing peri-menopause or menopause? And that these symptoms can last an average of 7 years, varying by ethnicity? Interestingly, studies show that Black women tend to start menopause earlier, endure it longer, and suffer more severe symptoms compared to women of other ethnicities.

Here’s a breakdown of how menopause affects women:

  • 25% experience no symptoms at all.
  • 25% endure severe symptoms.
  • The remaining 50% fall somewhere in between.

This highlights the importance of personalized treatment. Each woman’s experience is unique, and understanding your own symptoms and challenges is crucial. While there’s no quick fix, lifestyle changes can make a significant difference. Yes, I know you’re probably thinking, "Here we go, eat healthy and exercise," but I partied hard in my younger years (and still do occasionally), so I get it. It’s time to replenish both body and soul.

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) isn’t for everyone. You might not want it, can’t take it, or find your symptoms manageable without it. Personally, I’m exploring every option. Diet and exercise have been incredibly helpful, along with vitamins, CBD, and cutting down on alcohol. My HRT journey is ongoing, so we’ll see how it goes.

The Role of CBD in Menopause Relief

I came across an intriguing article about how CBD may help alleviate menopause symptoms. There’s a lot to learn for a more holistic approach.

The endocannabinoid system is a collection of cell receptors, known as cannabinoid receptors, located in the brain, other organs, and tissues throughout the body. This system plays a crucial role in menopause, and CBD can influence how it works. Essentially, cannabis and CBD could affect menopause’s impact on the body.

Here’s what cannabinoid receptors are involved in:

  • Mood regulation
  • Immune system function
  • Pain management
  • Sleep
  • Memory
  • Fertility and reproduction
  • Temperature regulation

A poorly functioning endocannabinoid system can lead to various health conditions. By influencing this system, CBD might help treat these issues. Cannabinoid receptors are found throughout the female reproductive system, and menopause seems to disrupt the endocannabinoid system. Therefore, CBD oil could potentially reduce some menopause symptoms.
